Orange Impress Godin

With Coach Tyrone Wheatley on board Syracuse has been hitting the State of Michigan pretty hard and a recruit they have offered early is Novi, Mich., native Matt Godin. The defensive lineman already has five offers on the table and really likes what he has seen over the past year from the Orange.

Matt Godin, a 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end from Detroit Catholic Central High School, has been paying attention to Syracuse for some time now, so when he picked up his offer on signing day, he already knew quite a bit about the program.

"I'm very interested in Syracuse right now," Godin stated. "First of all, I really like Coach (Tyrone) Wheatley a lot and their defensive line coach visited my school and I bumped into him in the hallway and he made a good impression. This season went great this year. Prior to this season I hadn't heard of them having a lot of success, but this year they got things in gear and did really well out on the football field."

"I did watch them on TV this season and when I saw their defense and how it ran, I felt like I could fit into it," Godin added. "I am going to visit there in April along with my parents so I can get a better feel for everything."

"Academics are going to play a large part in my decision and the feel I get on campus is going to be big too," Godin explained. "I want to major in business as I'd like to be an entrepreneur when I get out of college. I'm not really sure exactly what I want to do, but it's always something that's intrigued me."

Godin earned All-Catholic League honors as a junior after recording 66 tackles, 28 for loss, two sacks and one batted pass.
