Jones to be eased into action

The Syracuse University Athletic Department announced on Tuesday that Chandler Jones, who has missed each of the last four games with a lower body injury, was cleared for limited practice.

Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones won't play Saturday at Tulane, but he will make a much anticipated return to game action after the team's bye week, when the Orange host West Virginia on October 21 at the Carrier Dome.

Jones will see limited action in practice this week, and return to full participation on October 10. That will give him nearly two weeks to be ready at full speed for the Mountaineers.

The senior has not played since the season opener against Wake Forest. Last season, he was a second-team all Big East selection with 57 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble. Recommended Stories
