The new look Syracuse offense was able to put up 41 points in their season opener despite missing two key weapons. Tight-end David Stevens and wide receiver Alec Lemon both missed the game with injuries.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Stevens would return. Lemon's status remained in jeopardy. However, Doug Marrone announced on Friday that Lemon would be making his season debut on Saturday against USC.
The news is big for a Syracuse team that will need all weapons at its disposal if it hopes to pull off a monumental upset. The Orange passing attack appeared to be in mid-season form against Northwestern, and will have to be better to be effective against one of the nation's best teams.
The return of Lemon will help tremendously. USC is already without their best cover corner, and has a very young group of corners. Although they are talented, it is a group that Syracuse will likely look to exploit.
If Lemon can pick up where he left off last year as Syracuse's best receiver, he should help form a formidable group with Marcus Sales, Jarrod West, and Jeremiah Kobena.
The Orange will face the Trojans at 3:30pm on Saturday in MetLife Stadium.
