Syracuse University head football coach Doug Marrone spent much of his time behind the podium leading into the Orange’s match-up with the Panthers of Pittsburgh talking about himself needing to be better. The theme can be heard throughout his opening address and in response to questions that were asked.
Marrone also shares what having left tackle Justin Pugh back on the field means for the team and how that affects current left tackle Sean Hickey, who has done a commendable job at that position as a first-time starter through Syracuse’s first four games.
Along with Pugh’s return, Marrone discusses how wide receiver Adrian Flemming can help the offense moving forward as he prepares to also play in his first game this season.
Injury updates on cornerback Brandon Reddish, running back Steve Rene, and wide receiver/return specialist Jeremiah Kobena were also released. Reddish is day-to-day, Rene will be on the field against Pittsburgh, and Kobena appears to be out for the upcoming contest with the Panthers as Marrone said that it is hard to play someone who does not practice.
