SR.com TV: Defense Breaks Down Army Option

Ka'Lial Glaud

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers has one of the best rushing defenses in the nation, and that will be tested Saturday when Army brings the triple-option offense to High Point Solutions Stadium. It is a frustrating defense to prepare for, and several of the seniors went 1-on-1 with ScarletReport.com to discuss the issues of playing the Black Knights.

There is little question Rutgers (7-1) will allow markedly more than the 88.5 rushing yards per game it is yielding entering Saturday's contest with Army at High Point Solutions Stadium, but the question is how much more.

Army (2-7) brings its triple-option offense to town as the nation's leader with 375.4 yards per game on the ground. The Black Knights rank 119th of 120 teams in passing at 67.3 yards per game, but they will take chances in the passing game if they feel the defense is focusing too much on the run.

It is an offense that can punish an overaggressive and undisciplined defense, and Rutgers seniors Scott Vallone, Ka'Lial Glaud and Steve Beauharnais went 1-on-1 with ScarletReport.com to break down what has to be done to limit Army's offense.
