A piece of it came to an end within this match. Syracuse and Georgetown will not compete as Big East Conference opponents inside the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, again.
Syracuse held the lead from the opening of the game until the 5:16 mark in the first half. Georgetown sophomore forward Otto Porter, Jr., would give the Hoyas their first advantage, then, off of his jumper.
The Hoyas would hold onto the lead for five minutes before Syracuse senior forward James Southerland connected from deep to give the Orange a 23-21 halftime advantage.
But, that would trickle away quickly with Georgetown connecting on a three of their own to open up the latter half.
Syracuse would take the lead back at 15:03 off of two made free throws by junior forward C.J. Fair, but Georgetown would gain it right back again, and never give it up.
Hoyas 57, Orange 46.
Porter led all scorers with 33 points.
