Moss Still Wide Open

Syracuse is aiming high in the 2014 class, going after some of the top talent in the country. 4-star offensive tackle Steven Moss is one of those prospects. He gives the latest inside.

Four star offensive tackle Steven Moss has a bunch of options when choosing where he will play college football. One of the schools that has offered is Syracuse. The offer came from the previous regime, but the new staff is continuing to develop that relationship.

"I have 21 offers currently," Moss said. "Syracuse is one of them. I would say it might have been the old staff. I'm pretty sure the offer is still there. I've been talking to the new staff on Facebook. Rob Moore. That's the guy who offered me.

"He's definitely a good guy. He came down to my school and offered me during my sophomore season. Not this past season but last year. He offered me pretty much in April, he came down one morning. He said wow and that I passed the eyeball test. That I definitely fit. That was a pretty big day for me. It was my third or fourth offer."

Despite the interest from schools across the country, the 6-foot-5 offensive tackle says that are no favorites early in his recruitment.

"I'm still wide open," Moss admitted. "I have so many offers that for me to try to make a list at this point wouldn't be productive until I decide if I really like them. I'm going to try to take a visit to at least ten or twelve of my schools. I would imagine they (Syracuse) would be one being as close as they are."

Despite being relatively close to the Orange program, the Fredericksburg (VA) Chancellor High product is still learning about the program. He does, however, have an interesting connection with a member of Syracuse's 2013 class.

"I don't know too much about them," Moss explained. "I know more about their basketball with Carmelo (Anthony) and everything. I know they just got Jonathan Burton. I actually played against him. We were big rivals.

"He's definitely a pretty good sized kid. I'm not really a trash talked. I think he's a pretty good prospect."

With so many options for Moss, he knows exactly what he's looking for in a school. He also has a time frame for his decision.

"Pretty much the first thing will be academics," Moss claimed. "Do they have what I want to major in, which I'm not sure yet with what I want to major in. The other thing will be the surrounding area. Do I want to live there for four to five years. The third thing will be the coaching staff and team. Is it a team on the rise and a team with history.

"I would like to, theoretically, I would definitely like to decide before my senior season."
