Recruiting Weekend Primer

2016 CB Patrice Rene

Syracuse is hosting three of their top targets over the weekend. As if that wasn't enough to make it an important few days, the Orange are also hosting a pair of camps. CuseNation.com breaks it all down inside.

Syracuse has a huge recruiting weekend ahead of them with important visits and camps. The visits are of the most importance, as they are some of the top targets on the Orange board.

Weekend Visitors

Jason Cabinda: Arguably the top target of Syracuse commits A.J. Long and Zaire Franklin, Cabinda will visit the campus for the first time on Friday. He will not be staying overnight, however. He has set a July 1st decision date, and this trip will be of critical importance. The Orange staff will push for a commitment, but it remains to be seen whether he will want to take his other visits before deciding.

Parris Bennett: Another target of Long and Franklin, Bennett is looking to decide soon as well. He visited Pittsburgh recently and left the campus without committing. Syracuse really wants Bennett, and will push for a commitment here as well. The three star linebacker will likely decide between the Panthers and the Orange, so a strong visit is important.

Ervin Phillips: Holding only two offers from Syracuse and Temple, Phillips called the Orange a dream offer. He's one of the higher running backs on Syracuse's board, and it appears the interest in mutual. It would be a surprise if he leaves campus without becoming the newest member of the 2014 class. Phillips will arrive on campus on Sunday.

Zaire Franklin: Franklin will be on campus Friday and Saturday trying to convince Cabinda and Bennett to join him at Syracuse.

Back at Camp

After a successful camp on Thursday that led to an offer, Syracuse is back at it again with two more over the weekend. Qadree Ollison was originally supposed to attend, but he had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict. Still, there are some notable prospects that will be in attendance.

Tommy Hatton: A 2015 offensive lineman from Montvale (NJ), Hatton already has offers from Connecticut and Rutgers. A strong performance could lead to an offer here. He's one of the top camp prospects for the weekend.

Noah Domingue: Seemingly every camp he attends, he performs very well. Yet he still is without an offer within the United States. The Canadian offensive lineman will look to impress the Syracuse coaches with his mean streak and physical style of play.

Graydon Campbell: Another Canadian offensive lineman, Campbell is a class of 2015 prospect. He is already on the Syracuse radar, and leaving campus with an offer is a possibility. Like Domingue, Campbell is physical and plays with a mean streak. He will be transferring to Episcopal High School in Virginia for his junior year. That should get him more exposure.

Marshal Davis: An interior defensive lineman, Davis is camping for an offer. He's big and strong, but needs to show quickness and technique. Syracuse has been monitoring him for a bit, and is still looking for defensive line prospects.

Patrice Rene: A rising 2016 cornerback, Rene already has an offer from Akron. He has camped with Michigan and Michigan State, impressing both. An offer is a strong possibility with a big performance from the 6-foot-1 Canadian.

Quinton Soares: A 5-foot-11 slot receiver, Soares is a relative unknown. He will be in front of the Syracuse coaches for the first time over the weekend.

Jonathan Sutherland: Similar to Soares, not much is known about Sutherland other than he plays two positions (running back and cornerback). He's a very young prospect from the class of 2017.

It should be another eventful weekend on the hill.
