Bennett Takes in Syracuse

Parris Bennett was the second of three Syracuse visitors over the weekend. He took in the Orange campus for the first time and liked what he saw. He discusses the visit with CuseNation.com inside.

Detroit (MI) University of Detroit Jesuit linebacker Parris Bennett visited Syracuse's campus for the first time over the weekend. He was able to take in all things Orange to see what it would be like to join the program.

"I got a tour of the campus and the business school," Bennett described. "I saw the facilities and met with the coaches. I enjoyed it. I liked it a lot. I talked to all of the coaches. It was a great visit. I liked everything I saw."

Maybe the best part of the visit for Bennett was being able to speak with both Clark Lea and Scott Shafer. He says both conversations went very well.

"I sat down with my linebackers coach, Coach Lea," Bennett said. "He's really cool. I've had a great relationship with him since he was at Bowling Green. We just talked about me playing multiple positions if I go there. Things like that.

"Then I sat down and talked with the head coach about his philosophy and where he comes from. Kind of the process at the school. All types of stuff."

Bennett was hosted by current linebacker Cam Lynch. The two spent a lot of time together, and Lynch was able to give Bennett inside information about being a linebacker at Syracuse.

"Cam was a great host," Bennett admitted. "We had a great time. He told me how Coach Lea is his favorite linebackers coach he's had since he's had a new one every year he's been there."

Also spending a few minutes with Bennett was former Orange linebacker Derrell Smith who stopped by the campus to observe Friday night's recruiting camp.

Overall, Bennett said he enjoyed the visit. Now he wants to give himself time to process the trip and discuss it with his family.

"Honestly, it's all went really good," Bennett explained. "I had a really good time. I had a great time. I really enjoyed the campus and just being around everybody. I didn't consider committing because I want to talk to my mom and see what they think.

"I'm still going to decide by the end of this month. I'm going to Wisconsin on Tuesday to go to their camps. I might go out to Pittsburgh next week, but I'm not sure."
