Cordy Focused on Four

Cordy Focused on Four

Secondary depth is one of the areas Syracuse is focusing the most on in their 2014 class. Antwan Cordy has been one of the Orange's top targets since the spring evaluation period began. He discusses the latest, including the four schools that are standing out, inside.

Syracuse is looking to bolster its depth in the secondary in the 2014 class. They already have two safeties in the fold, but need some help at corner. One of their targets is Homestead (FL) South Dade CB Antwan Cordy. As the midway point of summer approaches, Cordy says four schools are standing out.

"The schools talking to me the most are Stanford, Tennessee, Duke, Syracuse and a couple more I can't remember," Cordy explained. "Those are the schools I'm focusing on. I don't have any favorites though. I'm just looking at those four."

Syracuse has recruited Cordy hard, trying to continue that Florida pipeline that has resulted in the Orange grabbing some talented defensive backs. Cordy's primary recruiter for the Orange, he says, is Eric White. The two have developed a solid relationship and communicate often.

"My recruiter at Syracuse is Eric," Cordy described. "He's a really good guy. He's on top of me every time. He gets in contact with me on Facebook and stuff. He's cool. He tells me I'm one of the top ones on their list and they want me to come up for a visit.

"They're ready to see me. He said he wants me to come up in August. We don't have a date set but he wants me to come up sometime in the month."

When Cordy does take the trip up north to take in the Syracuse campus, he will be looking at several things. Checking out the facilities and the campus are important. As is seeing how the team interacts with one another. However, none of those factors will be the primary focus for the 5-foot-9 defensive back.

"I want to look at the academics," Cordy admitted. "I want to major in business. So I want to see the business school and see how that's looking."

Cordy knows coming to Syracuse would mean he can reconnect with some Florida area players, specifically in the defensive backfield. Players like Keon Lyn, Jeremi Wilkes, Ri'Shard Anderson, Ritchy Desir, Durell Eskridge, and others have had success joining the Orange from the Sunshine State.

"It would feel great," Cordy described. "There would be a whole lot of Florida kids on the same time. It would feel great because I'd know I'm not the only one there."

Cordy added that he is looking to visit each of the four schools before making a final decision. That decision should come sometime during his senior season after he has taken all of his visits.
