More exciting ACC matchups await in week seven as the CuseNation.com staff continues their weekly predictions. Mike McAllister picked up a game on John Garcia Jr. last week, tying the standings through six weeks.
Garcia Jr.: 45-10
Garcia Jr.: This is a battle of strength versus strength. Pittsburgh's offense is one of the best in the ACC and Virginia Tech's defense is top-10 in the country. The Hokies defense will figure out the Panthers offense before the opposite happens. Virginia Tech stays on a roll with a 21-17 win.
McAllister: Pittburgh's offense has been a bit of a surprise, being one of the best in the conference early in the season. Still, the Hokies are playing very good football and feature one of the best defense's in the country. The home field advantage is the difference in this one. Virginia Tech 31 Pittsburgh 20.
Garcia Jr.: A lot of offense in this one as neither defense is strong. Duke is at the home and Navy is dealing with some off the field distractions. The Blue Devils get the win they need to get back on track 34-17.
McAllister: Duke is desperate for a win and is playing at home. Navy is a game team, but can't matchup with the Blue Devils' athleticism on the outside. Duke takes this one 31-21.
Garcia Jr.: Arguably the game of the day in the conference in terms of two teams that are on the same level. Syracuse has to establish the run game to get a road victory. The Wolfpack run defense is solid and that battle will determine the outcome. Despite a Ryan Norton missed extra point, the Orange squeak out their first ACC victory in school history 27-24.
McAllister: The battle up front will be a huge factor in this game. The Orange offensive line held up better than expected against Clemson, and paved the way for a season high 323-yards on the ground. If Syracuse can match that performance, and get a little separation in the passing game, they will be in good shape in this one. Syracuse pulls out a close one 24-21.
Virginia at Maryland
Garcia Jr.: The battle of two teams that were embarrassed last week. Both really need a win, but Maryland has more talent on their roster. They should be able to handle the Cavaliers without too much resistance. Maryland takes it 38-14.
McAllister: Virginia has been one of the more disappointing teams in the ACC this season. Their offense leaves a lot to be desired, and Maryland is eager to get back on the field after a blowout loss last week. The Terrapins take this one 27-10.
Boston College at Clemson
Garcia Jr.: This game looks like a blowout on paper, but will be closer than people think. The Eagles are starting to become that tough Steve Addazio type-team. Their run game, featuring Andre Williams, is one of the best in the country. But Clemson has too much fire power. Tigers win 42-28.
McAllister: The Eagles have been better than expected this season, but Clemson features one of the best offenses and defenses in the country. The Tigers should win this one easily. Clemson 45 Boston College 21.
Garcia Jr.: Power versus power with two strong running offenses. The game should only last two hours and twenty minutes. Georgia Tech is looking to rebound off of a tough loss to Miami. BYU is not the team we expected them to be overall. The Yellow Jackets have more athletes and pull out a road win 28-26.
McAllister: One of the more intriguing matchups of the day, this one should be fun to watch. Two running offenses square off in a great environment at BYU. Georgia Tech will fight til the end, but home fiend advantage is too much for the Yellow Jackets. BYU 27 Georgia Tech 21.
