GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the third time this season, freshman Tyler Ennis was honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference's Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Jan. 20.
Ennis last earned the award on Dec. 2 and Dec. 30, and is the only ACC player to be recognized as the ACC Rookie of the Week multiple times in the past eight weeks.
In wins at Boston College (69-59) and against nationally-ranked No. 22 Pittsburgh (59-54) Ennis averaged a team-best 14.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals while turning the ball over just twice in a total of 80 minutes.
The freshman guard was at his best against Pittsburgh on Saturday, pouring in a team-high 16 points, including 14 after intermission, and six in the final 1:48 to help the Orange rally past the Panthers.
On the season, Ennis ranks fourth in the nation with a 4.13 assist-to-turnover ratio and sixth with 48 steals. His 5.5 assists per contest also ranks in the ACC.
