Dowels verbals to Syracuse Publisher
Posted Jan 20, 2014

Syracuse received its second commitment from a big recruiting weekend when Juwan Dowels pulled the trigger on Monday.

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage cornerback Juwan Dowels has committed to Syracuse. The 5-foot-10, 160-lb corner made his decision one day after an official visit over the weekend.

Dowels was originally believed to be a lock to go to Oklahoma, but both sides appeared to move on recently. He quickly scheduled his official visit to Syracuse and made his decision one day after the trip.

Dowels chose Syracuse over offers from Clemson, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma, Ball State, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Rutgers, Temple, Toledo and others. He is the third prospect from Florida to choose the Orange.

He is the 18th member of Syracuse's 2014 class.
