Syracuse continued their recruiting momentum over the last month plus when two offensive linemen from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) committed on Friday. Tackles Colin Byrne and Sam Clausman pulled the trigger and gave the Orange a verbal pledge.
Neither Byrne nor Clausman has visited the Syracuse campus, but their relationship with offensive coordinator George McDonald gave them a comfort level with the program despite that fact.
Byrne is listed at 6-foot-5, 295-pounds while Clausman comes in at 6-foot-4, 290-pounds. Clausman also had interest from Purdue, Houston and Arkansas while Byrne was on the radar for Fordham and Michigan.
The St. Thomas Aquinas teammates give Syracuse their first two offensive line commits in the 2015 class, and their fifth and sixth members of the class overall.
