Cooper Tweets Transfer Plans

Syracuse freshman wide receiver Corey Cooper has announced via Twitter that he will transfer from the Orange.

Surprising news came out on social media Wednesday night. Freshman wide receiver Corey Cooper announced plans to transfer from Syracuse via Instagram and Twitter.

Syracuse Athletics confirmed the news Thursday morning. Cooper had been out of practice recently with an upper body injury.

Cooper's departure leaves Syracuse thin at h-back with both Brisly Estime and Sean Avant nursing injuries. Ashton Broyld has played the position in the past and could step into that role if needed.

Another candidate to play there could be freshman Ervin Philips, who seems to have the skill set necessary to thrive in that spot.

A wide receiver group that appeared to be deeper than any other position on the roster is now down Cooper, incoming freshman K.J. Williams who did not qualify academically, and the aforementioned players recovering from injury.

While the injured players should return as the ailments are not considered serious, Cooper leaving the program could open up another scholarship for the 2015 recruiting class.
