Walter Reyes rushed for 191 yards and RJ Anderson threw for 288 as Syracuse topped North Carolina, 49-47.

Reyes was dominant, as he rushed for three touchdowns, including a 25-yard run on the first play of the second overtime. It completed a 17-point rally, which put Syracuse up 49-41.

The Heels answered right back as Derrele Mitchell caught a 10-yard TD from Darian Durant, but Kelvin Smith stopped Jacque Lewis before Lewis was able to complete the two-point conversion off a shovel pass from Durant. The loss was UNC’s eighth straight home loss.

North Carolina appeared in control after Durant threw a 15-yard strike to Jarwarski Pollock with 4:58 left in the third quarter. But Syracuse fired right back with Anderson completing a 48-yard pass to Johnnie Morant and then another 31 yard strike to Damien Rhodes to pull the Orangemen within 34-31.

Syracuse’s Collin Barber nailed a 27-yard field goal with 27 seconds left to force overtime.
