For some time now, the consensus has been that it was a matter of when, and not if Delone Carter would commit to Syracuse, it was a matter of when.

Copley (Ohio.) running back Delone Carter (5-10, 190, 4.5) announced his decision on Monday that he chose the Syracuse Orange.

Carter took an unofficial visit to Syracuse back in May and has hinted that a commitment may be eminent.

"It was hard not to commit right then," Carter told The Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "The coaches were very honest, and they made me feel welcome. Plus, the school has a great tradition."

Carter registered 2,556 yards and 28 touchdowns last season on 324 carries to lead Copley. He added another 169 yards receiving and 227 on kickoff returns.

When Scout.com last spoke to Carter in July he had this to say about Syracuse.

Syracuse – “The school was very nice; we really loved their history and tradition, especially with running backs.” “I really liked all of the coaches, especially Coach Russ who is recruiting me.” “Coach Williams told me that if I come to Syracuse I will not only be a success on the field but I will be off as well, and that going to Syracuse will provide me the contacts needed to be successful in life.”

Scout.com will have more on this breaking story soon.
