Akron, Ohio product Tyson Gulley went to Syracuse University for an official visit two weeks ago and he said that after talking to the players and coaches, he knew he was with people of equal passion that he would be honored to go to war with every Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse
got a commitment from two-star running back
Tyson Gulley
on Wednesday night and the 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete is very excited to be a part of what Head Coach Doug Marrone and his players are putting together in Upstate New York.
“I committed to Syracuse on Wednesday night after sitting with my dad and telling him that I was ready to commit,” Gulley stated. “They congratulated me and told me welcome to the family. I had just had a home visit with them, so they asked me if I was definitely sure and I told them that I was.”
“I really like the coaches and players up there a lot and everything was great on my official visit to Syracuse,” Gulley explained. “Everyone is on the same page up there. When I sat down with the players and coaches and they all specifically told me the reason they only have about 55 players is because the players that are there are extremely passionate about football and want to be part of something special. As long as I’m in the huddle with someone as passionate as I am about playing the game, its home to me and feels right.”
“All of the coaches had a part in it, but Head Coach Doug Marrone was very straight forward with me. My running backs coach is also from Cleveland, so we had a connection right away and I feel very comfortable that they will take care of me while I’m at Syracuse.”
Gulley talked about where he sees Syracuse in the next few years.
“Like I said, I talked to a lot of the players that have been there with both staffs and they said that they’ve never had a coaching staff they were this confident in, so the second they told me that I was very confident in my decision. That really sealed it for me and I think we’re a program that is going to rise quickly.”
Garfield finished the season 6-4 and Gulley rushed for 932 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also had 51 tackles, a blocked field goal and played some quarterback as well.
