Syracuse already has one Arundel Senior High School product in Alec Lemon playing for them at wide receiver and junior running back Joseph Blackwell is another player from that program that has interest in coming up to New York and checking out what the Orange have to offer this year.
To appreciate what
Joseph Blackwell
has done at running back for Arundel Senior High School, you have to understand that they have one of the most potent passing attacks in the entire country. Their quarterback
Billy Cosh
will be playing for
Kansas State
next year, current
Syracuse
receiver
Alec Lemon
broke the all-time Maryland receiving record in 2008 and then
Ronnie Harris
broke the record yet again during the 2009 season. You can hear what the 5-foot-10, 180-pound ball carrier has to say about Syracuse and watch his junior highlights below.
“I haven’t been up to Syracuse yet, but I really want to go up there and check it out,” Blackwell said. “I have family up there and they said it’s a nice campus and really good school and my father really wants me to go there. Alec Lemon and I are good friends too and he goes there, so it’s definitely something I’m going to check out in time.”
“We’re about to start sending out film and getting in touch with coaches, so I know Syracuse will be one school we try to talk to,” Blackwell added. “They have a lot of talent and I watched a lot of their games this season. They had a great receiver this season that left the team and then Alec is doing well up there. When I watched them they were really running the ball effectively and I like how their offense works. One thing I really liked was that they were all on the sidelines together pumping each other up and Alec has told me a lot of other positive things about them in terms of their equipment, their housing, the education and how the school and program work.”
“I definitely will camp up there and Alec Lemon’s father is going to take me up to a game this year, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
You can watch Blackwell in action below.
