Gainesville, Fla., native Louie Addazio has officially given the Syracuse Orange their first verbal…
SU's Newest Recruiting Coordinator
"I called in and gave my commitment to Coach Marrone and Coach Conley earlier today after coming home from the spring game yesterday," Addazio stated. "They were really excited and they told me when I was up there that it only took one guy to get the ball rolling in the class and they wanted me to be that guy. They were just really happy to have me be part of the family and were excited to get me on the field in 2012."
"I went up to Syracuse and it was the tradition, coaches and toughness of the program that really set them aside," Addazio added. "I really buy into Coach Doug Marrone and the rest of the staff 100-percent because they're holding people accountable and bringing that program back to where it needs to be and used to be right now. I think they are both awesome coaches and awesome people and I like that they're hard on the players, but at the same time they give them the respect and love that they need out there. I just know I'm getting the total package from the coaching staff up there and they really make you buy into their vision of what Syracuse is becoming."
"In terms of academics, I met with the people in sports management and I think there's a good chance I'll major in that," Addazio offered. "I'm not sure what I want to do with the rest of my life yet, but it will probably be something with athletics. Maybe coaching, maybe running some sort of an athletic center, but something that a sports management major will certainly encompass. The quality of academics at Syracuse was certainly a factor in my decision as well. It wasn't a huge factor, but it was one."
We asked Addazio to sum up his thoughts on Syracuse going into the future.
"I see Syracuse climbing back to the top of the Big East and getting back to where they were under Coach MacPherson and Coach Pasqualoni and I see that happening very soon."
Also, it looks like Addazio has already taken a page out of his father's book and is going to be quite the recruiter for Syracuse this year as he had a statement to give out to anyone and everyone looking at SU.
"For all recruits, if they can get up to Syracuse I know they'll fall in love with the university and the SU staff and that they'll come to realize that they want to be, Syracuse University."
As a junior, Addazio only had four catches for 60 yards, however he plays in an offense which is heavily predicated on the run and he did have 18 pancake blocks which is an area that he clearly excels in. He was named honorable mention All-Area.
