Dunbar High School is stacked with talent every year and seems to be a staple in the Maryland State Championship game at this point. This year will be no different with a talented roster led by a quality signal caller in Jonathan Perry. While he has yet to pick up his first scholarship offer he has been visited by a few schools.
Jonathan Perry
earned honorable mention All-State honors at quarterback last season for Dunbar High School, throwing for 2300 yards and 23 touchdowns. He completed 60-percent of his passes on the season and also rushed for three touchdowns. Right now
Maryland
,
Virginia
and
Syracuse
are the three schools that have visited him.
“I like the environment at Maryland and was impressed by the players and coaching staff while I was there,” Perry said. “It’s very close to home and my recruiting coach James Franklin is a really down to earth guy who is real about the recruiting process which I like. I’m supposed to go there on Saturday for a visit.”
“Coach Randy Trivers from Syracuse has been to the school a few times and wants our team to come up for camp,” Perry stated. “I don’t know a whole lot about them, but they’ve put players like
Donovan McNabb
and
Marvin Harrison
in the NFL, so there is definitely some talent there.”
“
Illinois
is another school I really like,” Perry explained. “I don’t know what it is about him, but Head Coach Ron Zook seems like a really good coach and I’d just like to play for him. I have a family friend that plays for the Illini and he speaks very highly of it there.”
Perry has yet to take his SAT and did not know his core GPA at the time of our interview.
